Bible study today Thursday 12/03/2026.
So yesterday we looked at a few different gospels and readings from the old testament.
Luke 4 in which Jesus is being tempted in the desert: The first part of this we looked at was Jesus being tempted by the devil and he questioned his identity, if you are…… Remember we also jumped back to the beginning of the Bible to the book of Genesis, we looked at Eve been tempted by the devil. We looked at a couple of things around this, in that, we looked at.
1: Your identity, You being a child of God…. when the evil one said to Jesus “if if if if if” you are the son of God. We spoke about being a child of God and being sure of who or what our identity in God is. In that we are a child of God, that we are unique and wonderfully made.
Deception: The truth sets you free, We also looked at the deception of the evil one and how he can deceive people with semi truths, We looked at this through Eve in genesis, in which she was deceived by an angle of truth dressed up. We then looked up 40 days in the desert, I asked you who else in the bible fasted for 40 days. Moses fasted for 40 days, Elijah fasted for 40 days, Daniel also done a form of 40 days fast on fruit or abread, in fact at the transfiguration of Jesus it was only two of the above prophets that were there, whats that telling us about fasting? The people were in the desert for 40 years, what does this mean for us? is there something we need to take on to do for 40 days? to bring us closer to the Lord?.
We also looked at in Genesis Noah & The Flood, he was in the boat for 40 days in which it rained 40 days and 40 nights and God then began something new after those 40 days and 40 nights. it is the same with Moses when he went up and spent 40 days with the Lord the words of the Lord came to him.
The Book of Joshua chapter 1: We spoke about Joshua from the beginning of his book which is in the old testament, The Lord told Joshua him to be Determined and Confident and to never let the book of law (Bible) depart from his mouth that he should meditate on his day and night. The Lord also told Joshua that if he meditated on the book of the law (Bible) that he would be Prosperous so we want to be prosperous not in physical things but in spiritual things. We also spoke about fasting Jesus said to the devil man does not live on bread alone but needs every word that God speaks. Fasting as we pointed out is a way of setting the body free, God calls us to fast, and yes, none of us like to fast, but fasting sets the body free from something it makes us rely on the spiritual more so than the physical. If you remember i mentioned about the man who talked about fasting? that he said eating one meal a day is all that we were never designed to eat. That eating three meals a day was not what is good for the body, that he also showed in a physical scientific way, that the body actually works far better when it is fasting than when it is actually over-eating.
The Mind of Christ: 1 Corinthians 2:16, We also spoke about putting on the mind of Christ as I pointed out yesterday, we cannot use the same mind-set that we have used all our lives to sort out our problems, as Albert Einstein said you cannot use the same thinking that got you into the problem to get you out of it. And that’s a very good thought, Paul calls us to put on a new mind of Christ 1 Corth 2:16 which says have the mind of Christ so that our thinking will be in the spiritual and not in the physical. Reading God’s word is the most important thing we can do in our lives, because it helps transform our minds. one of the other things.
Proclaiming Gods Word: I spoke about speaking the word of God out into you the atmosphere into your room, and into your heart that no matter how much you can put the word of God in your mind it must travel down into the heart, for Jesus reminds us that it is from the heart comes to Wellsprings of life, its important to meditate on God’s word and get that into our hearts. it’s not that we have to remember every piece of scripture that we read it is about reading scripture and when a piece stands out for you thats is the part that Jesus wants us to take on board.
Guitar Lesson: getting something from the head to the heart is hard work. When the head and the heart are in tune miracles can happen, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I fear no evil. Jesus reminds us that we will have trouble but our faith grown in the heart through the practice of reading and proclaiming Gods word over our life wirh bring us through any sitiutions as we learn to thrust in the Lord. The Bible teaches us NOT TO LEAN ON OUR OWN UNDERSTANDING, it is in learning the words of life that life will bring us through our valley of darkness or death. Learn to walk in one accord with Gods word singing in your heart.
